The Waters of Nyr is available as an E-book and other writerly comments

Greetings Everyone! I forgot to mention that The Waters of Nyr, my recently released slipstream novel, is available as an e-book through Sam’s Dot and Smashwords. I’ll be working on the sequel as soon as I finish Remember the Game, which I recently decided to revise again with an expanded ending.

Have you ever had a writing project that demands you walk the labyrinth? Remember the Game has been that kind of project for me. It seems that the more time I spend with it, the more its finale spreads out in all directions. It’s NOT going to have a sequel, so perhaps that’s what’s going on.

It’s the story of a little girl who is given a game to play with. . .But is it really just a game?

The 21st Drabble Contest!

Be sure to visit Sam’s Dot Publishing for the new Drabble theme. We’re also going to be having another “special issue”, so there’s two contests to keep you busy. For those of you who don’t know what a drabble is, it’s a story of exactly 100 words, but the title can be up to 15 words, so that gives you a bit more to play with!

Muay Thai at The Vault Combat Academy in Ocean Beach

If you live near Ocean Beach in San Diego, and are looking to get in shape, check out The Vault Combat Academy! I’ve been training with Phil Gordon since July, and am in the best shape of my life. . .Seriously.

You don’t need to have professional fighter aspirations to train. . .But if you do, it’s the place for that, too! If you’re a writer who wants to study martial arts AND create believable fight scenes in their fiction, then this is also the place to do it.

Looking for a personal trainer? There’s that as well.

See you there!

Seeking Submissions for Hungur Issue 14 and 15

While the 14th issue is nearly full, I am still in search of a few more poems, and article or two, some interior art, and yes, cover art.

For the 15th issue, I am in search of all of the above as well as two-to-three stories.

Be sure to read our guidelines carefully, as we provide a specific vampire niche.

I’m looking forward to reading your submissions – and be sure to read our other guideliens, too.

There’s a new contest in process, so be sure to click on the link!

The Rhysling and Dwarf Star Awards

I’ve finally sent in my recommendations for the awards, and as usual, it was quite difficult to choose. What makes a poem sing? There are as many reasons as there are poems in the universe in my humble opinion.

First of all, I love word play and figurative language, but I also love poems that jumpstart my inner film projector. Poems that tell a story, that open a universe I haven’t visited, are also “good” poems in my estimation.

Then there’s the chills. . .When a poem does that, I have no choice but to pause to allow it to resonate through me.

What, in your opinion, makes for a good poem?

Problems with my site. . .

I haven’t posted for awhile-or responded to comments-as I’ve been having issues with my new site. Fear not, however, as my indefatigable webguru is at work to fix it. I hope to return to daily posts and comment responses.

Until then, I hope you’re writing-and reading-something every day!
